‘Queen of Rock n Roll’ Tina Turner dead at 83

Tina Turner died at the age of 83 according to an official post on her verified Facebook page.

The music icon passed away peacefully at her home in Switzerland on Wednesday (05.24.23) after battling “a long illness”.

Tina Turner is widely regarded as one of the greatest female rock and soul vocalists of all time. Her electrifying performances and dynamic stage presence have earned her a legion of fans around the world, as well as numerous accolades and awards throughout her illustrious career.

Born Anna Mae Bullock in Tennessee in 1939, Turner launched her music career in the 1950s as a member of the Ike and Tina Turner Revue. Over the course of the next two decades, she and her then-husband Ike Turner became one of the most popular and influential R&B groups in the world, known for such hits as “River Deep – Mountain High” and “Proud Mary”.

After a tumultuous and often violent marriage, Turner emerged as a solo artist in the 1980s, releasing a string of successful albums and hit singles like “What’s Love Got to Do with It” and “We Don’t Need Another Hero”. She also continued to tour and perform, becoming known for her high-energy concerts and signature dance moves.
