Vain people are more likely to be selfish

A new study has found that people who consider themselves to be attractive are more likely to be selfish.

A new study from South China Normal University surveyed over 1,300 individuals to evaluate if they regarded themselves as good-looking, as well as their levels of entitlement and selfishness.

Those who rated their looks highly were found to be more likely to act in their own interests and believe that they should be entitled to special treatment.

The author wrote: “Our research suggests that instead of showing reciprocity by treating others nicely, attractive people tend to take those treatments for granted and believe they are entitled to more.

“Avoiding those biases could be a fundamental solution to reducing self-interested behaviour among attractive individuals.”
