Rollercoaster rides have been triggering emergency calls from the new iPhone 14.
Apple have installed a feature on the iPhone 14 that automatically calls the emergency services if the owner is involved in an accident.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the plummeting rides at one US amusement park activated the crash detection system on the smartphones.
In a recording of one of the calls obtained by the publication, an automated message can be heard saying: “The owner of this iPhone was in a severe car crash and is not responding to their phone.”
The sound of the amusement park can be heard in the background.
The glitch has caused concern as false alarms can waste emergency services’ time and causes distress to relatives.
Melissa Bour, the director of emergency services for Warren County – which received the calls – told the Wall Street Journal: “We are very vigilant about calls. No call doesn’t get checked. You get used to calls that are not an emergency, but it’s wear and tear on the dispatchers.”
