Robot lawyer will take first case next month

History will be made at a court case next month as a robot lawyer will advise the defendant.

A robot lawyer will take its first case next month.

The court hearing will make history as the defendant will be advised by artificial intelligence.

The world’s first robot lawyer will be operated on the defendant’s smartphone and will listen to the case to provide its client with instructions on what to say in arguments.

The court location, charges and name of the defendant have not been disclosed.

The technology comes from the company DoNotPay and was initially created to appeal parking tickets in the UK before being expanded to the US.

Joshua Browder created the robot and is convinced that the technology will one day replace human lawyers.

He said: “It’s all about language, and that’s what lawyers charge hundreds or thousands of dollars an hour to do.

“There’ll still be a lot of lawyers out there who may be arguing in the European Court of Human Rights, but a lot of lawyers are just charging way too much money to copy and paste documents and I think they will definitely be replaced, and they should be replaced.”
